Undercover Cat Exposed in 5-Star Review

uccat-cover-pastelDee, at Mum’s Writings blog spot posted a lovely review of book four in my Klepto Cat Mystery series, Undercover Cat this morning. Here’s an excerpt:

“Patricia has the gift of making the reader at home and involved with the people and events in her novels. She creates vivid images in her words and descriptions making you part of all that happens. Readers who enjoy cozy mysteries will love Undercover Cat and want to read the whole series. The challenge in mysteries Patricia creates, is to delve deep into the plot and join the players in unique lives and abilities in solving the crimes.”

Cats Can Make You Laugh

frypay11They say that laughter is good for our health. If you want a healthier lifestyle, why not adopt a cat. I’m sure that if the laughter level in homes could be measured and compared, those homes with cats would register higher than most.

Just last night, we spoke sternly to Lily when she started to dig a claw into our favorite chair. She promptly sat down and raised her eyes toward the ceiling as if to say, “La-la-la-la.” Other times, when we scold her, she gives us her innocent look. “You can’t possibly be referring to me—your precious baby.”lilymax

Just look at all the cat videos being shared on the Internet and photos of charming cats in charming poses that are passed around via email. Cat calendars are among the most popular. And I don’t know about you, but I love receiving cards with cats on them and that’s practically all I send out.

Novels involving cats are at an all-time high in popularity. It appears I made an excellent choice in genres when I decided to write novels.

My 3 Cats

lily-007Highly Acclaimed! That’s a phrase used to describe the Klepto Cat Mysteries this week. I don’t know the origin, but it has been making the rounds throughout the Internet. Cool.

If you’ve stopped by this blog, you are probably interested in cats. Are you aware of some of the other cat blogs? There must be hundreds of them. Just do an Internet search and you’ll find some hosted by cats—cat who write!! There are also bloggers who write about their own cats and those who give advice and share stories about cats. Some cat bloggers review books about cats—both fiction and nonfiction. Others review items or cats—food, toys, cat trees, etc.

Some of you have probably visited the blogs where I’ve been guest blogger, so you’re aware of some of my faves. If you find others that you think would like to know about my Klepto Cat Mysteries, let me know.

About This Blog

I started this blog when I wrote my first book about cats--Catscapades, True Cat Stories. In this book, I share stories of many cats I’ve loved over the years. I’m sure you’ll recognize some of the cats you’ve known over the years, as well. Today, I’m sharing a photo of the three cats currently sharing our household. Max (16)is the snowshoe-type cat facing the camera. Lily is next to him and the tortie lying on the window sill is Sophie. All three came from precarious backgrounds and their stories are in the book–Catscapades. You can order it at amazon or get an autographed copy here: www.matilijapress.com (It would make a lovely Easter gift.)

Lily in the Limelight

046We had a new photo session with Lily yesterday and she was such a good girl. I was told that my publicity photo with Lily kitty with the Christmas tree behind us needed to be updated. So we took a bunch of new photos for book covers and promotional material. I’d share one here, but my system says the file’s too big and I can’t use it here. Darn!

Lily was amazing. Ruth spends her days photographing all types of animals at animal shelters now in hopes that the sweet photos will entice more adoptions. And she said she’s never known a cat to be as cooperative as Lily was yesterday. She said she was better than most dogs.

We talked earlier this month about communicating with cats using mind talk (remember Daisy and the Cat Carrier Caper?). I did have a picture in my mind of how I wanted Lily to perform and that afterward, she would get lunch. Is that what caused her to be so accommodating? In my world, cats usually do the opposite of what they think you want, right?

Cats–The Author’s Pawtners

lily-with-treats-030This is the last day of the Klepto Cat Mystery blog tour. What fun we’re having. The reception has been great. Ironically, just as the tour for my 9th book, Mansion of Meows is about to end, I’ve finished the sequel—Klepto Cat Mystery Book 10 (still fussing with the title). It’s with the proofreader as we speak—so watch for it to debut in a month or so (depending on when my formatter and cover designer can do their part).

Today’s blog stop is at Socrates’ Book Reviews. Here’s the direct link: http://bit.ly/1Dnkl8q

I really enjoyed putting this whole blog tour together, but this is one of my favorite stopovers. The title of my guest post is “Cats—The Author’s Pawtners.” Today, I’ll talk about why cats and writers go together. I’ll share what came first for me, the cat or the writing. I’ll reveal some of the disadvantages of writing with cats—some of the naughty things my cats do. Some years ago, for example, my Himalayan stepped on my keyboard and deleted the entire book I was working on. Sophie, our tortie, used to be our fax machine monitor. When she’d hear the machine, she’d rush in and retrieve the fax, then shred it. Oh yes, cats can be a comfort and cool companions, but as many a writer will tell you, they can also foster Cat-astrophes.
