Newsday Tuesday – Kitty-Cat Quotes

How about a little cat culture today? Last week we featured a few cat artists. Here are some quotes I’ve collected and enjoy:

“There’s no need for a piece of sculpture in a home that has a cat.” Wesley Bates.

Helen Maria Winslow wrote, “Women, poets, and especially artists like cats; delicate natures only can realize their sensitive nervous systems.”

This one, I haven’t heard before—“A dog is a dog, a bird is a bird, but a cat is a person.” Mugsy Peabody said that.

“Cat: a pygmy lion who loves mice, hates dogs, and patronizes human beings.” Oliver Herford.

I think I’ve shared this one before by cat mystery writer, Lilian Jackson Braun, “Cats Make Wonderful Models… They never strike a pose that isn’t photogenic.”

And Colette wrote, “There are no ordinary cats.”
