For Nonfiction:<\/strong>
\n\u2022\tCover letter. (Generally one page.)<\/p>\n

\u2022\tTitle page. (One page\u2014include projected word count.)<\/p>\n

\u2022\tTable of contents for the proposal itself.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tSynopsis or overview of the book. (One and a half to four pages.)<\/p>\n

\u2022\tMarketing section. (Who is your target audience and how many people does this group comprise.) Two to four paragraphs.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tPromotional ideas (How do you suggest this book be promoted and what will you do to promote it?) Two to six paragraphs.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tDetails about your platform (How widespread is your following\u2014people who know you as an expert in your field or as an author? What are some of your connections related to this topic?) Use as much space as it takes. Impress the publishers.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tMarket analysis or comparison of competitive works. Compare your manuscript with five or six similar books. (One or one two pages.)<\/p>\n

\u2022\tAbout the author (What makes you the best person to write this book?) One to three paragraphs. (Be sure to add your list of published books and books in the works.)<\/p>\n

\u2022\tChapter summaries. Approximately 100-400 words per chapter.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tSample chapters (if requested). Generally the first two chapters and the most impactful chapter.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tSamples of illustrations, photographs, etc. (if appropriate).<\/p>\n

For Fiction:<\/strong>
\n\u2022\tCover letter

\n\u2022\tPromotional plan, including your platform.
\n\u2022\tAbout the author.
