Today is America\u2019s annual day of giving thanks. However, as authors, we should express our appreciation more often than once a year. We should thank those who give to us as we journey through the tough process of writing, producing and marketing a book. <\/p>\n
I actually received a lovely expression of thanks from a client yesterday, she said, \u201cThank you for always being so helpful.\u201d <\/p>\n
Who should we remember to thank? I\u2019ve listed 20\u2014you can probably think of more.
\n\u2022\tThose who take time to review our books.
\n\u2022\tExperts and professionals who respond to our questions and concerns.
\n\u2022\tContributors to our books and articles.
\n\u2022\tOur editors who go above and beyond\u2014and many of them do.
\n\u2022\tPublishers who are wonderful to work with.
\n\u2022\tFriends who read our manuscripts and respond honestly.
\n\u2022\tMembers of our critique groups.
\n\u2022\tMentors, even if they are not officially recognized as such.
\n\u2022\tColleagues and other authors who reach out to help.
\n\u2022\tDirectors of the organizations and groups that have been helpful.
\n\u2022\tOrganizers of conferences we attend or speak at.
\n\u2022\tProgram directors who invite us to speak.
\n\u2022\tFellow writers\/authors who support and help us.
\n\u2022\tMagazine and web site editors who publish our works.
\n\u2022\tBloggers whose posts help, support, touch us.
\n\u2022\tAuthors whose books entertain or teach us.
\n\u2022\tOur teachers.
\n\u2022\tThose who read our blogs, articles and books.
\n\u2022\tGod for giving us the skill, desire and opportunity to write.
\n\u2022\tOur families for tolerating our obsession to write.<\/p>\n
That ought to keep you busy today, silently or verbally thanking everyone who has helped you along your writing\/publishing path. <\/p>\n
