Have you seen the latest annual list of \u201cbanished words\u201d from Lake Superior State University in Michigan? These include words and terms that are overused, misused and have, perhaps, become trite. <\/p>\n
They chose fourteen words and terms they\u2019d like to see go away in 2011. If you\u2019re still using any of them, you might want to consider eliminating them from your vocabulary sometime soon.<\/p>\n
The most disliked word of the year is \u201cviral.\u201d Second and third on the list are \u201cepic\u201d and \u201cfail,\u201d when describing \u201ca blunder of monumental proportions,\u201d according to reporter Ros Krasny.<\/p>\n
These are not words that you habitually use? Wait, how about these terms: \u201ca-ha moment,\u201d \u201cback story\u201d and \u201cwow factor.\u201d Will you miss hearing the ring of these tired phrases or not? How would you feel to see \u201cBFF\u201d go by the wayside? And these critics are suggesting that we no longer use \u201cFacebook\u201d and \u201cGoogle\u201d as verbs. Now wait a minute\u2026 I do not think that\u2019s going to happen.<\/p>\n
\u201cMan up\u201d is another phrase that this group has deemed pass\u00e9. <\/p>\n
