Sometimes, when I walk past Lily, reach down and pet her and murmur, \u201cHi sweet thing,\u201d or \u201cWhatcha doin\u2019 punkin\u2019\u201d or \u201cHow\u2019s my pretty girl,\u201d she gives me a rather puzzled look. I got to thinking that maybe she doesn\u2019t know what her name is.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe she thinks she\u2019s \u201cpunkin\u2019 noodle doodle,\u201d \u201ccutie patootie,\u201d or \u201cprecious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However when I call out \u201cLily\u201d at meal or treat time, she\u2019s quick to show up. So maybe she isn\u2019t having an identity crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Now that I think about it, she appears even when I call Max or Sophie. So perhaps she\u2019s confused. Or, she doesn\u2019t want to miss out on any food or treats that might be handed out. She even runs on scene when I\u2019ve enticed Max onto my lap for a nail trimming session or to be groomed. These are events she\u2019d rather not participate in, but she sure enjoys watching us \u201ctorture\u201d the other cats.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think, does your cat know his\/her name?
