\"\"Tomorrow is National Free Spay a Feral Cat Day. And it\u2019s an important day. Each year since this day was established, more and more veterinarians worldwide have become involved. We should thank them for their service.<\/p>\n

So what\u2019s the big deal? We all love kittens. Is \"\"there anything more adorable???? But we also want all cats and kittens to thrive in the world they\u2019re born into. Here\u2019s an eye opener: According to statistics, one unspayed female cat can be responsible for 420,000 kittens over a period of 10 years.<\/p>\n

\"\"When you consider that seventy percent of households in the US have cats\u2014which is approx 90 million households\u2014and that there are estimated to be as many as 100\"\" million stray cats\/homeless cats in this country alone, you can see that we have a huge problem\u2014that we\u2019re creating<\/em> a huge problem for the cat population.<\/p>\n

Certainly, there are many agencies and individuals working hard to help manage the cat population, but as you can see by the statistics, we still have a long way to go.<\/p>\n

If you know of one or more cats in your neighborhood that aren\u2019t being cared for and that are not spayed-neutered\u2014maybe it\u2019s time to become pro-active. Take advantage of FREE Spay Day, unite as a neighborhood and connect with an agency to trap these cats and have them neutered\/spayed.<\/p>\n
