Cats like to hide. They like to crawl under blankets, into purses, even inside the dishwasher or refrigerator. I saw a picture last week of a kitten sitting next to a jar of mayonnaise in the door rack of a refrigerator.<\/p>\n<p>When I take my rice cooker out of the<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2046\" src=\"https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/stanley-221x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/stanley-221x300.jpeg 221w, https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/stanley-369x500.jpeg 369w, https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/stanley.jpeg 597w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/> cupboard, Lily often slips in behind me and occupies the empty spot for a while. She crawls inside the cupboard when I\u2019m stacking cat food cans after a grocery store run (my helper). I\u2019ve learned to leave one of the sliding doors open just wide enough for her to escape.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturers of cat trees know that cats <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1735\" src=\"https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/LilyNewToy-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/LilyNewToy-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/LilyNewToy-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/LilyNewToy-500x500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/LilyNewToy.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>like hidey holes and they provide tunnels and caves for cats. If only they would make those cat trees more sturdy. I think most of them are at least a little dangerous for the exuberant, playful cat. Is it because the cat wants to go with you? Most likely not.
