You\u2019ll smile, you\u2019ll gasp, and you\u2019ll marvel at the amazing creature we honor through this blog\u2014the paw-some cat.<\/p>\n<p>When Lily was a kitten, she rolled herself up in a section of newspaper like a burrito. We <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1577\" src=\"http:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/AlyzayCats-081-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"alyzaycats-081\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/AlyzayCats-081-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/AlyzayCats-081-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/AlyzayCats-081-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.matilijapress.com\/catscapades\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/AlyzayCats-081.jpg 992w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>watched her do it. We laughed at her. But when I realized the poor little thing was stuck, I forgot about grabbing a camera, so we don\u2019t have a picture of this mishap. Maybe you can imagine it. Once she\u2019d finished rolling herself up, her whole body was tightly wrapped\u2014even her front paws. All that showed was her cute little face, which, by now, had a rather frantic expression. I sometimes wonder what she would have done if we weren\u2019t home.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, our other cat, Sophie, is a shredder. So maybe she would have eventually chewed that newspaper off of her baby sister kitty and freed her.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve closed Lily in cupboards, not knowing she had climbed inside to explore the pots and pans or baking dishes. We\u2019ve closed her in a closet several times and have learned two things\u20141: Always leave that closet door open. 2: In case we forget to leave the door open, always check that closet before leaving the house.<\/p>\n<p>Each time I found Lily in the closet, she was just sitting and waiting to be rescued. There was no yowling or even mewing. She wasn\u2019t panicked.
