Wild (and Sometimes Crazy) Wednesday – I Stalk Birds

Peeek-a-Boo

Peeek-a-Boo

You may not know this about me, but I’ve taken on some of my cats’ traits. I guess I’ve hung out with them for too many years. Like a cat, I stalk birds. But while a cat might want to feel the little bird between her paws and even make a meal of the bird, I stalk them for the privilege of capturing their image. I photograph birds. I even have a facebook page where I post bird photos.

I started this when I began noticing how many hummingbirds we had flitting around the feeder outside my office window. I bought a zoom lens and became obsessed with photographing them. Now I will stalk almost any kind of bird. In particular I love the Western bluebirds. I enjoy trying to capture great shots of the bald eagle pair around their nest at a nearby lake and I know where a family of great horned owls nested last season. Sure hope they return this year. They’re really fun to photograph.
